Confident communicators
Children learn to listen, talk, question, describe, recall and share their ideas with growing confidence.
Our ambition is for every child to leave Daisy Chains as a confident communicator, an independent and resilient learner, and a curious young person who is well prepared for the next stage of their education and life.
These ambitions guide the knowledge, skills, vocabulary and experiences children build throughout their time with us.
Children learn to listen, talk, question, describe, recall and share their ideas with growing confidence.
Children build confidence in making choices, managing belongings, self-care and asking for help when needed.
Secure relationships help children recognise emotions, manage frustrations, persist and recover from setbacks.
Children investigate, ask questions, test ideas, solve practical problems and explain their thinking.
Books, stories, songs and rhymes nurture enjoyment, sound awareness, storytelling and meaningful mark-making.
Everyday play develops secure foundations in number, quantity, pattern, shape, space and measure.
Frequent movement and practical experiences build strength, coordination, control and healthy habits.
Children develop belonging, kindness and respect while learning about people, places and the natural world.
Our carefully sequenced curriculum begins with what each child already knows and can do, then introduces new knowledge and skills across all seven Early Years Foundation Stage areas.
Our team observes what fascinates each child and uses those interests to extend language, thinking and practical skills in meaningful ways.
Children investigate materials, nature, movement and ideas through hands-on play.
Adults introduce vocabulary, ask thoughtful questions and help children explain what they notice.
Repeated, carefully sequenced experiences help new knowledge and skills become secure.
Children benefit from familiar rhythms without every day feeling identical. There is plenty of room for curiosity, outdoor play, rest and spontaneous learning.
A warm greeting from a familiar key person and free-choice play to help children settle into their day.
Adult-supported and child-led activities across the seven areas of learning, with the garden available throughout.
Snacks are provided by the nursery, with children encouraged to help prepare their own snacks, serve themselves and take increasing responsibility for everyday routines.
Physical play, gardening, water, sand, mud and plenty of room to investigate, move and explore.
Children bring a packed lunch from home and are encouraged to take an active role in mealtime routines. They can help prepare food where appropriate, clear away afterwards and wash their own dishes using a washing-up bowl and drying rack. These practical routines support independence and form part of everyday curriculum learning.
Quieter activities, stories and rest for those who need it, followed by more opportunities to play and explore.
A friendly handover helps families stay connected with nursery life. Parents also receive occasional reports and opportunities for parent meetings to discuss their child's development, progress and next steps.
We're preparing a dedicated area where parents and carers will be able to view our nursery policies and procedures clearly in one place.
Our latest policies and procedures are currently being prepared for the website. In the meantime, please speak to the Daisy Chains team if you would like to request a particular policy or have a question about our nursery procedures.
We'd be happy to talk through our approach, answer your questions and help you understand what everyday learning looks like at Daisy Chains.
